- Hallo,

-
- seems to be win95 as I got same prob with my motorola power, take a
- look at my email to motorola hotline:
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- My Power runs worse under Win95 Dial-Up-Network. My Provider
- (University) uses
- a 'Ascend Terminal Server' and PAP automatic ppp-login.
-
- 1. Prob: The ModemLog shows these disturbing lines:
-
- 03-14-1996 18:26:38.23 - Recv: CONNECT 28800
- 03-14-1996 18:26:38.23 - Interpreted response: Connect
- 03-14-1996 18:26:38.23 - Connection established at 28800bps.
- 03-14-1996 18:26:38.23 - Error-control off or unknown.
- 03-14-1996 18:26:38.23 - Data compression off or unknown.
-
- This occurs not only with original settings as provided in the
- mdmmoto.inf(!!): After various
- other probs I changed all settings to atz\V4 (that's the connect from
- above). At no
- setting (mdmmoto.inf, at&f, f1, z etc.) error-control nor compression
- is detected, even tried
- all settings of \Nx, even disabled fast detect.
-
- I tried to connect to the servers number via dos-terminal when
- connect-message
- showed "28800/V34/V42bis" so it must be possible for both sides of
- connection.
-
-
- 2. Prob (which seems to be combined with 1. and which is main reason
- for writing):
-
- In only one third of all tries my ppp-Internet connection is
- established, sometimes it won't
- be established for hours. I found the reason in the ppp-log of win95:
- ---------------------------------------
- ...
- 03-15-1996 01:17:29.62 - FSA : Adding Control Protocol c021 (LCP)
- to control protocol chain.
- 03-15-1996 01:17:29.62 - LCP : Callback negotiation enabled.
- 03-15-1996 01:17:29.62 - LCP : Layer started.
-
- > within these 10 seconds nothing happens so remote modem hangs up!
-
- 03-15-1996 01:17:39.12 - Remote access driver is shutting down.
- ----------------------------------------
-
- This prob occurs only when using scriptless ppp-conection via password
- authentication protocol,
- I have no probs with a script-login, but only the remote 14.4 line is
- to be connected via script.
- I did not have to buy a 28.8 and give away my 14.4 for that.
-
- Now, what makes me think this could be a modem prob? Experimenting
- with 3 different Modems:
- Zyxel U-1496E
- Elsa Mikrolink 28.8 TQV
- Aceex 2814VH (all borowed from friends)
-
- No prob occurred ever with these modems. More: When my power did not
- connect I rapidly
- changed modem to Zyxel and it connected fine... (I can send you
- log-files to check)
- Of course, with all modems error control and data compression are
- detected!
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- sorry for long reply but my lighten our prob!
